You Will Be Amazed by the New Wave of Products, Says Bill Gates

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has words of praise to say about the company’s new wave of products – the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 operating systems as well as the Surface tablet.

Microsoft recently celebrated 30 years of the employee Giving Campaign and the fact that its US employees raised more than $1 billion in cash for people in need – and more to the point, $1 billion in cash that since 1983 went towards helping 31,000 nonprofit and community organizations. Microsoft Chairman and Founder Bill Gates, together with current Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, commemorated the joyous occasion during a special town hall event.



Having Bill Gates on campus represented a huge opportunity to find out what he has to say about Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, and Surface. Steve Clayton, editor with Next at Microsoft, did not miss this opportunity and managed to grab an interview with Bill Gates. In this interview Gates had words of praise for the company’s new wave of products. “People will be pretty amazed about the energy Microsoft’s putting behind this new wave of products,” said Gates in the interview. “

The Windows 8 operating system is scheduled to be released to the public on the 26th of October. There will be two main editions available for retail sale: Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. For business environments there will be Windows 8 Enterprise and for the Surface tablet, ARM-based device built for the operating system, there will be Windows 8 RT. The Windows RT-powered Surface tablet will be available in three SKUs: a 32GB version priced at US$499, a 32GB version bundled with a black Touch Cover priced at US$599, and a 64GB version bundled with a black Touch Cover priced at US$699.
