The ultra-simple Yo messaging app for iOS and Android has recently been updated and the thing is that the updated app comes with an exciting new feature: Yo your location.

You can now share your location with friends. Double tap a friend’s name and you can Yo your location. Your Yo with location will be displayed on the recipient’s screen as “@ Yo from username”. The @ sign is there to indicate that there’s a location attached to the Yo.

Yo version 1.2.0 introduces two new features – the aforementioned Yo your location is one of them. Double tap a friend to opt-in to Yo your location. Double tap a friend’s name to share your location with that friend.

And now, the second new feature introduced by Yo version 1.2.0: respond to a Yo from your lock screen. That’s to say you don’t have to open the app to Yo back.

The latest Yo release for iOS is available for download on Apple’s App Store.

The Updated Yo app for Android – Share your location

Yo version 1.11 for Android also introduces the option to share your location. Yos with an attached location are marked as @yo. If I decide to share my location with a friend, the Yo will show up on my friend’s screen like “@Yo from George.”

The latest Yo release for Android is available for download on Google Play.

“For the purposes of full transparency, we want to make clear that the new location feature is strictly opt-in. We do not store your location or share any personal information with third parties under any circumstance,” said Yo on its blog.

Yo for Windows Phone has not been updated at the time of writing this.
