Yahoo! has updated its Yahoo! Mail for Android app, the one that was rolled out to the public this summer. As Yahoo! explained, the update has been spurred by two things: 1. the company’s commitment to offer the best user experience possible; and 2. user feedback. Since June, Android users have put the Yahoo! Mail app trough its paces and provided useful feedback.

“We never stop looking for ways to make the apps even better. To that end we’ve been reading all your suggestions, and polishing the app, leading up to today’s launch of the new Yahoo! Mail app in the Android Market,” commented Product Manager with Yahoo! Mail, Lee Parry.

The updated version of Yahoo! Mail for Android is available for download on the Android Market. Before you go get it, perhaps you would like to know what new bits and pieces it has to offer. Here’s the lowdown:

Multiple Yahoo! Mail Accounts
As Yahoo!’s Lee Parry explained, this was “probably the biggest request we had from users”. In the latest version of Yahoo! Mail for Android, users can add multiple Yahoo! Mail accounts and they can easily switch from one to another.

Photos
You will see a preview of any image that is attached to an email in your inbox.

Yahoo! Messenger
If alongside Yahoo! Mail you also install Yahoo! Messenger for Android, you will be able to see the online presence of your contacts from within Mail. You can send a message to one of your Messenger contacts, view contact details, or initiate a video call from within Yahoo! Mail.

Contact Sync
From the device’s contacts app you can easily access your Yahoo! Contacts. You can merge and sync Yahoo! Address Book contacts with your Android contact list.

In related news, you may want to know that the brand new Yahoo! Mail Beta is out and so are the Yahoo! Mail Beta wallpapers (Yahoo! Mail Beta user requested changes are soon to follow).
