Today the spotlight is on Yahoo!, the Sunnyvale-based American public corporation, and on Yahoo’s products because it is Yahoo! Thursday here at FindMySoft. As part of Yahoo! Thursday we have to report that the company’s iPhone specific instant messaging application, Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone, has been updated.

If you already have Yahoo! Messenger installed on your iPhone, here is what you have to do to apply the update:
- Tap the App Store icon on the device’s screen.
- Search for Yahoo! Messenger.
- Download and install version 1.4 of the app.
If you have an update alert for the Yahoo! Messenger app, then you don’t need to do all that searching.

Before you rush off to do that, perhaps you would like to know what’s new in Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone version 1.4. Here’s the lowdown: version 1.4 adds the ability to chat with all your Windows Live Messenger. This is something that the previous version, Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone 1.3 did not have – what it did have is an enhanced file sharing feature that allows users to send and receive photos and videos.

“We’re pleased to announce that we’ve added one of the most requested features to our latest version of Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone (1.4): the ability to chat with your Windows Live contacts. Now when you’re on your iPhone, your Windows Live friends will be able to see when you’re online, and send and receive messages from them. You can also add new Windows Live friends right from the app,” commented Product Manager Thyaga Vasudevan.

Vasudevan went on to tout the fact that Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone 1.4 offers support for French, German, Italian, and Spanish. But this is something that we’ve known about ever since v. 1.3 was rolled out. “If your iPhone is set to one of those four languages, Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone will detect that automatically and load the same language,” added Vasudevan.

If you would like to get Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone, you can grab it straight from the App Store here.
