Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone v. 1.1 Available for Download
The development process and the evolution of the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app is tirelessly moving on; following the announcement of the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app, the official release of the app, and the YM for iPhone FAQ, the team behind the IM client is announcing the release of an updated version of the app.
Product Manager Sarah Bacon comments: “Thanks to everyone who has tried out the initial release of Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone and provided feedback here on the blog or through the App store. In response to some of your comments, we’ve released an updated version of Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone (v1.1), which is now available for download.
The updated version of Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone comes with the following features:
- Landscape keyboard mode, meaning that you can flip the iPhone on its side and type away.
- New “Report a Problem” feature that will help you in conveying your YM usage problems to the Messenger team. You can view the “Report a Problem” tab under the Settings icon.
- Some users were experiencing sign-in and connection issues; this problem has been addressed with version 1.1. If you have been experiencing such problems, you are well advised to upgrade to Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone 1.1.
In related Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone news, it seems that Apple has decided to make the app a feature in the App Store. Program Manager Andrew Molyneux explains: “In case you missed it, Yahoo! Messenger for the iPhone is now available for download from the iPhone App Store. I have to admit, I don’t have an iPhone - I’m a BlackBerry user - but I’ve seen it in action and it’s very, very cool. So cool, in fact, Apple have made it a featured application in the App Store in iTunes (scroll to the bottom of that page, if the link doesn’t take you there automagically).
If you would like to get Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone, a download location is available here.
UPDATE: Yahoo! is aware of the fact that some of you are having troube signing in to YM for iPhone - details here .
