About a month ago the Yahoo! Messenger team announced and released a dedicated instant messaging (IM) iPhone app, namely Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone. Since then the YM team at Yahoo! put out an updated version of the app, Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone 1.1 which came with a few noticeable enhancements, and has acknowledged the fact that some iPhone users are experiencing problems with YM for iPhone.

“We’re aware that some of you are still having problems signing into the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone application, even after updating to version 1.1. If you haven’t already, please use the new “Report a Problem” feature in the app to let us know. You can find it under the Settings icon in the app. When you submit, please include your debug logs (it is checked by default). These can very helpful when we’re troubleshooting issues from our side,” said Program Manager, Sarah Bacon, at the time.

The same Sarah Bacon has now come out to announce that these issues have been addressed by the Yahoo! Messenger team and you should no longer experience login problems.

“The sign-in issues that were occurring with the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app are now fixed. If you were unable to sign-in before, please restart the app and try to sign in again. If you are still experiencing problems, please use the Report a Problem feature to let us know,” she said.

If you are just now finding out about the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app and you would like to know what it provides, here is a detailed list.
- Instant Messaging: the main function of Yahoo! Messenger that allows you to socialize with your friends via IM.
- Share Photos, be it a photo you already have stored on your iPhone, or a photo you took just now.
- Stealth Settings: stay invisible when you do not want others to see you, select which users can see when you are available.
- Custom status message: type in whatever you want, including a web link, and set it as your online status.
- Recent conversations archive
- Special idle state: the app will automatically set your status to “Idle” when you for example click a link one of your friends sent you, link that takes you away from Yahoo! Messenger and towards Safari.
- Landscape keyboard mode, meaning that you can flip the iPhone on its side and type away.
- New “Report a Problem” feature that will help you in conveying your YM usage problems to the Messenger team. You can view the “Report a Problem” tab under the Settings icon.
