Yahoo! Aviate: An Intelligent Homescreen and Launcher for Android

Using Google’s Android operating system is not exactly hard. Still, there are things that could be simplified. And Yahoo! does precisely that with Aviate, an intelligent homescreen and launcher app for Android. It automatically organizes Android apps and it displays intelligent info throughout the day (similar to Google Now).

Aviate automatically organizes all your apps and uses a simple, quite good looking layout to display them. This way you can easily view all your apps and you can easily access any app you want. Not only that, Yahoo! Aviate also helps you easily access your favorite contacts.

It must be mentioned here that Yahoo! Aviate’s interface can be customized – hundreds of wallpapers are available for Aviate.

But the best part about Yahoo! Aviate is that it delivers smart information throughout the day. In the morning for example, it tells you for how long you slept, it presents info about the weather, it presents traffic info, and it presents the latest news. Here’s another example: when you plug in your headphones, Yahoo! Aviate brings up music apps and widgets.

This sort of functionality reminds me of Google Now. It too brings up the information you need at the time you need it.

Yahoo! Aviate is available for download on Google Play.
The app is offered for free. It works with Android 2.3.3 and newer.

In related news, Yahoo! Mail recently announced that it is rolling out the option to add images in the email body. Read more about it here.

In further related news, with 2014 coming to a close, Yahoo! took a look back at the most popular search queries of the year. Do you know that “Ebola” is the top search on Yahoo! this year and that Jennifer Lawrence is the top searched celebrity on Yahoo! this year? Read more about this topic here.
