Back in February 2D Boy, the company founded by former EA Arts developers Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, announced that the popular and award winning World of Goo game would be ported to Apple’s iPhone mobile device. The developer said at the time that the World of Goo for iPhone app would, hopefully, be rolled out in March, making the iPhone the second Apple-developed platform on which the game is available (the first one is the iPad).

The World of Goo for iPhone app has not been released this March as 2D Boy had hoped. But it can’t take long until the app goes live in the App Store and that’s because 2D Boy announced that it submitted the app to the App Store.

"We just submitted the iPhone version of World of Goo to App Store for approval, expect it to be out soonish!" said 2D Boy in a blog post dated April 3. The developer said it doesn’t have a precise date for when the app will go live in the App Store – hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

2D Boy said that when it rolled out the World of Goo for iPad app it didn’t price it so it would be fan and early adopters-friendly. Iniatially the game was sold for $10; then the price was lowered to $5. Not wanting to make the same mistake a second time, 2D Boy said it competitively priced the iPhone version of World of Goo.

“The iPhone version of World of Goo will be priced at $2.99 in the US (and the usual equivalents elsewhere). BUT, it’s going to be discounted to $0.99 for the first 24 hours after release as a way to say thank you to the early adopters,” said 2D Boy. “Additionally, we thought the most fan-friendly thing to do with the iPad (HD) version is to make it universal. So if you already bought the iPad version, you will essentially be getting the iPhone version for free.”
