Great news for all of you who have an iPad and were waiting for an exciting, addictive physics-based construction game. 2D Boy (company founded by Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, two ex-EA Arts developers) has announced that its award-winning game World of Goo, which won the Design Innovation and Technical Excellence Award at the 2008 Independent Games Festival and the Best Independent Game award at the 2008 Video Games Awards, is coming to Apple’s iPad soon.

The developer announced that the World of Goo for iPad is done and has been submitted to Apple. The ball (of goo) is now in Apple’s court. We are all waiting for Apple to approve the game, we are all waiting for Apple to welcome World of Goo for iPad into its App Store.

“World of Goo on iPad! We’re just about finished, and hope to release the game in the App Store as soon as we get approved and make it through the scary gates,” said 2D Boy in a blog post. The developer went on to say that World of Goo for iPad will become available “as soon as we get approved by Apple”, which will happen hopefully “before the holiday season.”

When the World of Goo for iPad comes out, hopefully sooner rather than later, you will be able to enjoy the game with your friends and loved ones. Just like the Wii version of World of Goo, the iPad version will be multiplayer. Up to 11 players can enjoy the game at the same time.

“You can play with 11 fingers on one screen. Which means you can play two handed, with friends, an animal, anything up to eleven fleshy things touching the screen. World of Goo is rated E for Everyone,” said 2D Boy.

You can find out more about World of Goo and perhaps get the Windows, Mac or Linux version of the game here.
