Wolfram Alpha iPhone App a Big Success
A few days ago the team behind popular computation knowledge engine released a Wolfram Alpha application for the iPhone – a good app, but a bit on the expensive side. It seems that iPhone users don’t care that the Wolfram Alpha app carried a price tag of $49.99; many of them purchased the app, enjoyed the functionality it provides and made it one of the hottest items in the App Store.
“The Wolfram|Alpha App for the iPhone and iPod touch popped up on the App Store’s “What’s Hot” list,” said the Wolfram Alpha team the other day. “We are delighted that Apple selected the app to be featured, recognizing the intense interest and excitement being shown in Wolfram|Alpha. We’ve also been thrilled by the positive feedback from those who have purchased the app, visible in the reviews on the App Store.”
The Wolfram Alpha team also announced that the app made it on the “Top Grossing” list as well – this happened on the second day the Wolfram Alpha iPhone app became available for purchase. It maintained its position throughout the week.
Switching focus from the app’s success onto the app itself, here are some Wolfram Alpha iPhone app highlights:
- The app is connected to Wolfram Alpha’s supercomputing cloud. This allows it to bring the Wolfram Alpha knowledge engine experience to the mobile user.
- It can be used by pretty much anyone, but the team at Wolfram Alpha highlighted these category of users in particular: financial analysts, physicians, scientists, engineers, students, teachers, journalists, parents, economists, nutritionists, systems analysts, marketing managers, pilots, sportsmen.
- The app’s user interface is specially designed for the iPhone. Consequently the UI features a special notation keyboard, customized iPhone output, editable history, and it integrates with native iPhone services (like Maps).
- Easily get an answer to all sorts of questions, spreading across countless domains.
