Wolfram Alpha Is Giving Away Free Stuff and an iPad2
Earlier today I was reporting that Intego, company that specializes in providing security solutions for Mac, has a back to school promo and that as part of that promo it is offering a 20% discount for five of its products – but only if you get them from Intego’s online store, not the Apple’s Mac App Store or the iTunes App Store. Now I am glad to report that the team behind Wolfram Alpha, the computational knowledge engine developed by British-born physicist and Mathematica creator Stephen Wolfram, is running a back to school promo as well.
The team explained that going back to school can be a bit costly and that is why it decided to run a promo and give away stuff for free.
“It’s back to school time again, and we here at Wolfram|Alpha know that a new school year can be expensive for both students and parents. Books, clothes, food, computers—it can all add up. That is why we’re giving away free stuff!” said the Wolfram Alpha Team.
The stuff Wolfram Alpha will give away for free includes T-shirts, mugs, and Wolfram Alpha apps. All this merchandise will be handed out over the next two weeks via Wolfram Alpha’s Twitter account. Or to put it another way, Wolfram Alpha will run daily giveaways for the next two weeks via its Twitter account.
“Each weekday until September 15, we will announce what you can win and how to win it between 9 and 10am CDT, via our Twitter. Daily challenges may include anything from retweeting our message to answering a question about Wolfram|Alpha. We will announce that day’s winners between 4 and 5pm CDT,” explained the Wolfram Alpha Team.
On top of the merchandise mentioned above, Wolfram Alpha will also give away an iPad 2 filled with Wolfram Alpha apps – it will do so as part of the Big Spikey on Campus photo contest that goes something like this: cut out the Spikey (you can get it here) and take a picture with the Spykey on your campus; then submit your pic on Twitter or Tumblr using the hashtag #WolframBSOC. You have until September 16th at 5PM CDT to submit your pic. The winner will be announced on September 20th. 10 runners-up will get a Wolfram|Alpha T-shirt and a Course Assistant App.
