The team behind Wolfram Alpha, the computational knowledge engine developed by British-born physicist and Mathematica creator Stephen Wolfram, is asking whoever may be interested in joining the team as a volunteer curator. So if you are the type of person that likes Wolfram Alpha and would like to lend a helping hand, why not take the challenge?

“Our volunteer curators are passionate, enthusiastic people who are committed to gathering and checking data. We realize there is a lot of diverse knowledge across the world, and we want to give you the opportunity to be a part of this exciting project. Currently we are working with volunteer curators from all over the world on geographical data, but we are open to volunteers with different interests or areas of expertise as well. If you’ve got knowledge or insight into a specific area, we want to hear from you,” explained the Wolfram Alpha Team.

You should note that all Wolfram Alpha ongoing volunteer curators get a complimentary, temporary Mathematica license; the license can be extended for long-term curation. If you wish to become a volunteer curator, you will have to check, add and help the team in discovering new ways in which users might search for data. You do not have to know how to use Mathematica, but thanks to the complimentary license, you can familiarize yourself with the software if you wish to do so. Time-wise, becoming a Wolfram Alpha is not a challenging task. It does not matter if you want to help a lot or just a little, there is a wide range of time available every week when you can do your volunteer work.

Becoming a Wolfram Alpha volunteer curator sounds like something you might be interested in? If it does, then fill out this form - the team will get back to you a soon as possible to inquire about your expertise and how you might be of help. If you have any questions, you can send them to volunteer@wolframalpha.com
