Winning iPhone Gambling Apps put Casinos on High Alert
The gambling industry is a highly prosperous one, and for good reason: you cannot beat the house! On the long run, the house always wins, but if you want to make a quick buck in the casino of your choice, then you should know that there are some iPhone apps out there than can help you count cards, thus giving you the upper hand. But that would mean you walking out with money in your pockets, and the casinos can’t have that, now can they?
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has issued a warning to all casinos, stating that people who enter the gambling establishments and use their iPhones could be breaking the law by cheating. What the Gaming Control Board understands by cheating is if you count cards. The catch is that card counting is not at all illegal, assuming of course you use your own God given brain to do it. But if you use a device that does it automatically, then you could be charged with felony.
What could happen to you if you are caught using an iPhone card counting app? If you do it covertly, nothing. But since casinos constantly have you under video surveillance, chances are that you will not go unnoticed, you will be detained by the casino operators and then handed over to the proper authorities (state gaming agents). The California Bureau of Gamin Control reports that some blackjack players have been detected using such apps in a tribal casino from Northern California. No reports on them being used in Nevada have surfaced so far.
Randy Sayre, board member with the Nevada Gamin Control Board comments: “The program calculates the true count and does it significantly more accurately. We wanted to put the industry on notice to be aware this device is out there. We're looking at this internally and this is an issue that needed to be in the public domain.”
