The incredibly popular Temple Run game is now available for Windows Phone 8. So if you’re on Microsoft’s mobile operating system, go get the game for free!

Temple Run is no longer available just for Apple and Google’s mobile operating systems. The Imangi Studios-developed game that proved to be very popular with iOS and Android users all over the world, has added a new name to its list of supported operating systems. On top of Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android, Temple Run also supports Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system.

So, if you want to play this very fun game on Windows Phone 8, get it for free from the Store. Enjoy!

If per chance you are not familiar with the story behind Temple Run, just check out the game’s official description:

You've stolen the cursed idol from the temple, and now you have to run for your life to escape the Evil Demon Monkeys nipping at your heels. Test your reflexes as you race down ancient temple walls and along sheer cliffs. Swipe to turn, jump and slide to avoid obstacles, collect coins and buy power ups, unlock new characters, and see how far you can run!"

The big question now is “when will Temple Run 2” be rolled out to Windows Phone 8? The sequel landed in Apple’s App Store mid-January, and in Google’s Play Store a week later. Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios, said that the initial plan was to concomitantly roll out the iOS and Android version of Temple Run 2. But because the iOS release was overwhelming, the decision was made to wait a week until the Android release.

Temple Run Release Timeline
  • August 2011 - Temple Run for iOS
  • March 2011 - Temple Run for Android
  • January 2013 - Temple Run for iOS and Android
  • March 2013 - Temple Run for Windows Phone 8.
So the bottom line is this: while iOS and Android users have been playing Temple Run for some time now, Windows Phone 8 users have just now gotten their hands on the popular game. And while Temple Run 2 was rolled out for iOS and Android this January, we have no idea when sequel will be made available to Windows Phone 8 users.
