Back in April the first screenshots of Windows Live Messenger for iPhone were released to the public. Microsoft has now done one better – it has actually released the Windows Live Messenger for iPhone app to the public. The app is available for download in the US, in the UK, in Canada, and in France; it comes with language support for English and French.

“[Windows Live Messenger for iPhone] is the best tool to keep iPhone users connected while on the go and allows you to do most of what you’re used to doing on the PC. We’ve been working hard to make this app streamlined and simple to use, while preserving all the core functionality that you're used to in Messenger. In order to make it as familiar as possible to iPhone users, we adopted the native style of the iPhone for much of the user interface. We’ve worked hard to make the new Messenger app for iPhone something you'll want to use every day” commented Ye Gu, Group Program Manager, Windows Live Mobile.

Here is what you can do with the Windows Live Messenger for iPhone app:
- Chat with all your friends; you can send text, emoticons, nudges, URLs and photos with your IM messages.
- Share photos with your friends
- Include photos, links, and other rich content in your status messages
- Comment on your friends’ photos and status updates from Windows Live, Facebook, and MySpace
- See what your friends are sharing Flickr, YouTube, and many other social and photo sharing sites
- Edit photos by applying one of the app’s built-in effects
- Hotmail access from within the app
- Push notifications, so you can always stay connected even though the Windows Live Messenger for iPhone app is not up and running.

If you would like to get Windows Live Messenger for iPhone, you can download it from the iTunes App Store here.
