Nullsoft, the developer behind the popular Winamp media player, recently unveiled the all new Winamp Album Washer and offered it at a special introductory price of 99 cents. Winamp Washer is available for Winamp for Android as an in-app purchase.

Launch Winamp for Android 1.3 (or get it from Google Play Store here), tap on Store from the home screen, then select Album Washer to purchase it.

Before you go get Album Washer for Winamp, I am sure you want to know what it does. The quick and to the point explanation is that it cleans up your audio library – hence the name Album Washer.

The longer explanation is that Album Washer, a tool powered by Gracenote, updates incorrect or missing track info (this includes artist name, track title, album name, and other information of this kind) and it presents you with an easy means to download high quality album art for your tracks. To sum it up, Winamp Album Washer will ensure that you have correct track info and high quality album art for your tracks. Incorrect track info, missing track info and album art, these are things of the past.

Please note that Winamp Album Washer works only with three audio formats: MP3, AAC, and FLAC. You should also note that with the FLAC format you will need the paid Winamp Pro version.

As mentioned above, Album Washer is available as an in-app purchase. The Winamp In-app Store was introduced with Winamp for Android 1.3 which was released a couple of days ago to the Google Play Store. If you’re on an older version of Winamp for Android, you need to update to v. 1.3 to be able to access the in-app store and thus be able to get Winamp Album Washer.

Another important new feature Winamp for Android 1.3 introduces is the option to move the app to the SD card, which is great news for all the Android users who have limited storage on their devices. The bad news is that Winamp widgets will no longer work when you move the app to the SD card.
