Until recently, if you wanted access to the extra functionality that Winamp Pro has to offer, you had to get the free Winamp app from the Android Market, then upgrade to the paid Pro version by making an in-app purchase. You can still take that approach if you want to. But if you don’t want to, then I have some good news for you: the Nullsoft team announced that Winamp Pro is now available for purchase in the Android Market. So if you want to, you can purchase the Pro version directly from the Market (see here).

“Now there are two ways to get the Pro features for Winamp for Android. Either by purchasing the 'Pro Bundle' directly from the Winamp app as an in-app purchase, or by purchasing the Winamp Pro app directly from the Android Market,” explained the Nullsoft team.

By purchasing Winamp Pro, either by making an in-app purchase or by purchasing it directly from the Android Market, you are getting a license that unlocks the Pro features that are not available in the free Winamp version. These Pro features include a customizable home screen, a 10-band graphics equalizer, personalized station recommendations, gapless playback, and best of all, no ads. The free Winamp for Android version is ad-supported you see.

As I was saying, by purchasing Winamp Pro you get a license that unlocks the Pro features in the free version of the app. This means that if you purchase and install the app on your Android-powered device, you will need to keep both Winamp Pro and the free version of Winamp installed.

If you’re not currently using Winamp on your Android device, I wholeheartedly advise you to do so. Winamp is a properly good media player and my media player choice. As I am writing this, Winamp (for Windows) is running in the background, playing one of my favorite online radio stations. But I digress. So if you want to use Winamp on your Android version, get the app from the Android Market here. If you want to upgrade to the Pro version, make an in-app purchase or purchase a Pro license from the Android Market here.
