During the month of December everyone is busy shopping for gifts for friends, family members, and loved ones. Aware of this fact, F-Secure aims to raise awareness about safe online shopping by publishing a list of the “Top 10 Most Dangerous Holiday Gifts” and by sharing safe shopping tips with online shoppers. The top tips F-Secure has to offer are:
  • Don’t use search engines to find retailers’ websites, visit the websites directly. For example, instead of searching for Amazon using a search engine like Google, visit amazon.com directly.
  • Be careful not to click dangerous links. Internet security software like F-Secure's free Browsing Protection will check links and tell you if you can trust the sites you want to visit.
  • Before making an online purchase, check the site’s URL. You should check to make sure you’re at the correct online store and that the page URL begins with HTTPS.

By making all this info available, F-Secure wants everyone to have a safe shopping season. And to celebrate the start of this season the company is asking you to answer the following question for the chance to win a Nexus 10 tablet:

Do you plan on doing more shopping this holiday online and offline?

The answer to this question must be posted on the official F-Secure blog here. You have until the 31st of December to provide an answer. For providing an answer to the question above you earn one entry into F-Secure’s Safer Shopping Sweepstakes. By taking a short survey and posting a SURVEY COMPLETED message you earn a second entry.
