SoundCloud, the online music distribution platform that boasts more than 175 million unique listeners, recently introduced a paid monthly subscription service called SoundCloud Go.

Seeing that SoundCloud Go is priced at $9.99 per month, one question immediately comes to mind: why would you pay to get Sound Cloud Go? There are at 3 main ways to justify paying ten bucks a month for SoundCloud Go.

1. Access to more music

SoundCloud is home to a lot of music and, with a free SoundCloud account, you can access most of it. Not all of it, but most of it. You see, certain tracks are available to SoundCloud Go subscribers only. You can preview these tracks, but you can’t listen to them full length, not unless you get a subscription.

By getting a SoundCloud Go subscription, you have access to more than 125 million tracks, anything from top artists and biggest hits to emerging bands and the sounds of the underground. Access all the music you want and come up with unique playlists.

125 million tracks is a big, a very big number. It’s far more than the 30 million or so boasted by competitors like Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal. The downside is that some 110 million tracks are user-uploaded, not authentic recording tracks from a verifiable source.

2. Listen offline

Maybe your internet connection is dodgy, maybe you’re right at your monthly limit and you turned off your data connection, maybe you’re someplace off the grid and you don’t have any internet access. It doesn’t really matter why you’re offline.

What matters is that with a SoundCloud Go subscription you have offline access to your music. Your likes and playlists are available on your phone for your offline listening pleasure.

3. No. More. Ads.

SoundCloud is ad-supported. To stay in business, the company has to make money. And since there’s no money in free SoundCloud accounts, it has to turn to advertising to make some dough. I get that. But just because I understand there’s a reason for ads, doesn’t mean I like them.

If you feel the same way, you’ll be glad to know that a SoundCloud Go subscription gets rid of all the ads. Your listening experience won’t be disturbed by annoying ads. All music, no interruptions – not from ads at least.

Try SoundCloud Go for free

As mentioned above, the SoundCloud Go services is priced at $9.99 per month, but only if you subscribe through the SoundCloud website or via the Android App. If you subscribe via the iOS app, the service is priced at $12.99.

The good news is that the first 30 days are free. Take advantage of this free 30-day trial to see what SoundCloud Go is all about. If you like it, great! If you don’t, just cancel your subscription.
