Weird Wednesday iPhone App: Dog Thoughts

From the “I can’t believe people are paying for this stuff” category we have an iPhone app that would certainly strike a cord with animal lovers out there, but even they will admit that this app’s claims are a bit ridiculous (amusing, but ridiculous). The app I am talking about is called “Dog Thoughts” and it claims it can read your dog’s mind by simply analyzing a picture of said dog.

The official description of the iPhone app goes like this: “Shake your dog and read her mind - on your iPhone, of course! Simply take a picture of your dog or import one from your picture library, shake your phone, and watch as her thoughts appear on screen! Not satisfied with what her thought says? Simply click to edit it and say what she's really thinking.”

There is also a long list of features, out of which I picked the following:
- Built-in dog thoughts (over 100 of them) and high quality dog thought generation.
- Generate images in Portrait or Landscape mode. Pinch to zoom and “capture the perfect Dog Thought”.
- Dog thought customization options.

Just as I’ve mentioned above, the dog thought generation process that this app provides is not to be taken seriously, but as a good joke. Have a smile and enjoy it, just as Smooth Edge Design, the company that developed Dog Thought’s advises: “Dog Thoughts is for entertainment purposes only and may not represent what your dog is feeling. User discretion advised - But make sure to have fun with it!”

Last but not least, it must be said that Dog Thoughts will set you back $0.99 and developer Elijah Windsor says he will get 70% of that amount. So far about 1,200 people have downloaded the app and presumably shared a few laughs upon using it.

If you would like to get Dog Thoughts, an iTunes download location is available here.
