Palm has updated the operating system that powers the Palm Pre mobile device to version 1.2 earlier this week. WebOS 1.2 can brag about the fact that it brings several new features to the table and it can also brag about the fact that it fixes several security issues. The update will be delivered to Palm Pre users over the air. If you did not get an update notification just yet, it will arrive soon. In the meantime why don’t you check out the new features added to the operating system?

The list of changes in WebOS 1.2 is quite long. Here are the bits I thought you will find interesting:

- Palm Synergy comes with LinkedIn contact syncing. This means you will get info from LinkedIn profiles in your Palm Pre contacts.
- Support for heterogeneous EAS policies.
- You can now filter your emails by tapping a search term.
- Downloading files in the browser is now possible.
- The Amazon MP3 Store can download songs from WiFi and/or WAN.
- Tap a phone number in a calendar note and the Palm Pre will dial that number.
- By default, podcast playback will resume from where you paused.
- You can cut and paste web pages and emails.
- You can enter credit card info from the application menu in App Catalog, just select Preferences and Accounts. This info is not sorted on the phone but with the Palm Profile.
- Download again for free option allows you to reinstall a purchased app.
- New Share button lets you send a link to the app page in an email or text message.
- Web browser bookmarks are backed up to your Palm profile.
- You are asked if you would like to transfer the call to the Bluetooth car kit (previously this was done automatically).
- If a computer’s Bluetooth device name field is blank, you can still make a Bluetooth connection.
- Tap Snooze on a calendar event notification and it will not reappear after the event end time.
- The alarm volume matches the ringtone volume (previously it matched the system sounds volume).
