Weave Sync 1.0 Beta 1 Released
Weave Sync is an add-on developed by Mozilla Labs so that the Firefox user could encrypt and synchronize his Firefox experience across multiple browsers. This means the add-on will sync the Firefox browser you have installed on your home system with the Firefox browser on your laptop, workstation, and mobile phone so that you can safely experience the same usability no matter where you are. You will have access to your browsing history, bookmarks, tabs and saved passwords no matter what computer you use.
Mozilla Labs has now announced that Weave Sync has reached an important milestone in its development process: Weave Sync 1.0 Beta 1. “We are excited to announce the first Beta release of the Weave Sync add-on,” announced Ragavan Srinivasan, on behalf of the Weave team. “Once you have installed and connected, Weave Sync enables you to take your Firefox experience with you on your laptop, desktop and mobile devices. This release marks a significant step towards making Weave Sync a production quality add-on.”
With this Beta version, the development team behind the Weave Sync add-on has focused on 3 ares:

With this Beta version, the development team behind the Weave Sync add-on has focused on 3 ares:
- Speed - the add-on now uses heuristics to compute an “interestingness” score. You know how pages that you acces more often popup top of the list in the AwesomeBar? Thanks to the “interestingness” score, the Weave Sync add-on does the same.
- Ease of use - the UI (user interface) has been simplified. Even novice users should get the hang of it in a couple of minutes or so. The interesting thing is that the UI is flexible enough to accommodate experienced users as well.
- Unobtrusiveness - the Weave Sync add-on works in the background and when the computer is idle. This means your regular Firefox experience will not be interrupted by Weave Sync. The Weave Sync add-on also uses what Mozilla calls “the incremental sync behavior” – data is synced in chunks, and according to the “interestingness” score mentioned above.
