We Are Linux Ad Winner Announced, Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit Kicks Off
It has been a long time coming, but the winner of the We Are Linux ad competition has come to an end today, the 8th of April 2009, the same day that the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit debuts in San Francisco. As you may very well remember, yesterday we announced the 5 finalists – today we are going to announce the winner of the ad competition.
The 5 user created ads that made it past the Linux Foundation filter and gathered the most votes from Linux fans all over the world were: The Future is Open, The origin…, Linux Ad – What does it mean to be free?, Challenges at the office, and Linux Pub. Only one of these videos will be showcased at the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit, and only one user will win the trip to Tokyo Japan (in October this is where the Linux Symposium will take place).
The happy winner of the We Are Linux user created ad competition is the “What Does It Mean To Be Free?” video created by Amitay Tweeto, a 25-year old graphic designer from Israel. The Linux Foundation recognized two runner-ups as well: The Origin and Linux Pub. Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Amitay, but not just to him – we would like to congratulate the other finalists as well for their efforts, as well as the other Linux fans responsible for the total of 90 competition entries that the Linux Foundation was so happy and amazed about.
Vice president of Marketing and Developer Programs with the Linux Foundation, Amanda McPherson comments: “The ‘We’re Linux’ contest has really highlighted the diversity and creativity of the Linux community. We’re honored to be able to provide a forum where Linux users can share their passion and experiences with Linux. The level of participation reflected in both the submissions and voting process represents the strong, expansive Linux user community.”
