Earlier this week popular micro-blogging site Twitter announced that it entered a partnership with SYCOtv-produced American television music TV show The X Factor. The partnership brings a nice bit of functionality to fans of the TV show: it allows them to cast their votes via Twitter.

Starting next week, Twitter users will be able to cast their votes via Twitter. Thus they can have an impact on the outcome of The X Factor show. Based on the votes some contestants will get the boot while others will stay on and have a chance to impress the public with their talent.

There are two simple ways to cast your vote for The X Factor. Here they are:
1 – Follow @TheXFactorUSA on Twitter and submit your vote via a Direct Message. All votes will be send directly to The X Factor and will be counted. Direct Messages are private and only viewable by the sender and recipient.
2 – Visit this website; voting begins on Wednesday, the 2nd of November.

“Twitter is transforming the way we watch TV. Reading and writing Tweets has become the new water cooler, helping us connect in real-time around our favorite shows, competitions and events. On Twitter, you get closer to the characters and shows you love, as stars, writers, directors, news anchors and more live-tweet from behind the scenes,” said the Twitter team.

To the question “Why Twitter”, The X Factor team had the following to respond:
“There’s no better time! Fans have been talking TV on Twitter for years. The X Factor™ judges and acts use Twitter to share their every move. The #XFactor hashtag organizes real-time conversations around the show and connects fans to each other. And now, Direct Message voting provides a direct line for fans to impact the show like never before.”

The bottom line is that starting next week, there will be a new way to vote for your favorite The X Factor contestants – via Twitter.
