Ultimate Windows Tweaker, the free piece of software that we reported upon as being able to provide a grand total of 130 Vista tweaks, has been updated to version 1.1, thus receiving an enhanced number of tweaks. If you thought the number or mods was large before, it now has jumped to over 150, according to the software’s developer.

All the tweaks that can be performed with Ultimate Windows Tweaker, since there are so many of them we couldn’t simply enumerate them here, are grouped into these categories: personalization; UAC; system and performance; security; Internet Explorer; network optimization; other options. With the 1.1 update, each of these categories has ban improved upon. In the Internet Explorer category for example you are offered tweaks according to the browser version you have installed on your machine (Microsoft just recently put out IE8 RC1).

For a full, detailed list of changes you can check out the change log, or you could simply download Ultimate Windows Tweaker and run it. It does not cost you a thing; it does not require an installation meaning that you could always put it on a storage device such as an USB and take it with you; and last but not least, it gives you easy access to some customization options you would be hard pressed to perform on your own. Did I mention that the software weighs in at just over 450KB, after it has been extracted from its archive?

Using Ultimate Windows Tweaker is very simple: once you fire the software up, you will see a list of customization categories (just as mentioned above); access the category that would interest you directly and see an additional list of tweaks. Some of them are self explanatory; for the ones you have trouble with, simply hover your mouse cursor over it to get a pop-up with a short explanation. All mods can be unchanged by setting up a restore point.

If you would like to get Ultimate Windows Tweaker 1.1, a download location is available here.
