Virtual Reality Isn't New, and Neither Is Augmented Reality (Infographic)

With virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) being such a hot topic, I can certainly understand if you think that this sort of technology is new. It isn’t. It took a long time for VR and AR to become the global phenomenon it is today.

Devices like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive are indeed new. But the technology behind these devices isn’t new, it’s been around for close to a century. The infographic below presents "some of the technology that spurred the growth of virtual reality over the last nine decades and takes a closer look at some of the devices on the market today."
