Useful Web Services for the Moviegoer: IMDb iPhone App
In the Useful web services for the moviegoer category in our filling cabinet you will find the following:
Now we have yet another iPhone app to add to this category: the IMDb (Internet Movie Database) iPhone app. The app can be downloaded straight from the App Store (download link at the bottom) and it will not cost you a thing. Just like visiting the IMDb site is free of charge, using the IMDb iPhone app is free of charge as well.
Just because the IMDb iPhone app does not cost anything does not mean it is a piece of junk. Quite the opposite! Here is the official list of features:
-Over 1.5 million movie and TV titles
-Over 3.2 million celebrities
-US Movie showtimes
-Trailers
-Photos
-US TV listings
-Top ranked movies (MOVIEmeter)
-Top ranked celebrities (STARmeter)
-Celebrity birthdays
-US Box Office results
-Movies coming soon
-Top 250 rated films of all time
In related news, it should be said that there is a Firefox add-on that will put an IMDb review option in the browser’s right click context menu. Once you've installed this add-on – which is aptly named IMDb Movie Review – you can just highlight a piece of text (like a movie’s title or actor’s name), right click, and select IMDb Review. A new IMDb tab will then be opened. I think you will agree this is a lot easier than highlighting the text, copying it, opening the IMDb site, pasting the text into the searchbox and pressing Go (or hitting Enter on the keyboard).
If you would like to get the IMDb iPhone app, grab it from the App Store here.
