Via the Windows Insider Program, Microsoft released a Technical Preview of its upcoming Windows 10 operating system to the public. The OS comes with virtual desktops, brings back the Start Menu, features a new task view button in the taskbar, and more.

Take a look below to see some useful keyboard shortcuts for the Windows 10 Technical Preview.

Windows 10 gives you smart suggestions when you snap a window, lets you snap 4 apps on the same screen, and lets you view running apps and programs for additional snapping options. To snap a window to the left you need only press Win + Left. To snap it to the right, press Win + Right. Press Win + Up/Down to get into quadrants.

Microsoft recognizes that one desktop is not enough and, with Windows 10, it gives you access to virtual desktops. To create a new virtual desktop you need to use the Win + Ctrl + D keyboard shortcut. To close a virtual desktop you must use the Win + Ctrl + F4 keyboard shortcut. To switch from one virtual desktop to another you can use Win + Ctrl + Left or Win + Ctrl + Right.

The Windows 10 taskbar comes with a new task view button. If you click on it you can switch between open files and you can switch from one virtual desktop to another. If you don’t want to click the task view button, you can use the Win + Tab keyboard shortcut to open task view and keep it open.

The Alt + Tab shortcut lets you easily switch between open windows. Hold and it will show the new task view. Let go and it will switch to another window.

A hat tip to Brandon LeBlanc, senior Marketing Communications Manager on the Marketing Group at Microsoft, for sharing the keyboard shortcuts presented above.
