Security company AVG Technologies made AVG Family Safety available for free to Windows Phone 8 users. This is a family-friendly web browser that doesn't let your children access inappropriate content.

There are plenty of websites out there that your child should not access – and then there are plenty of malicious websites that your family should not access. To make sure your child does not access inappropriate sites and to make sure your family does not access malicious websites on your Windows Phone 8 mobile device, you can use the AVG Family Safety app that was just recently rolled out to the public by security company AVG Technologies.

AVG Family Safety is a free, family-friendly web browser that can be added to the built-in mobile security provided by Microsoft for your Windows Phone device. This app will keep your child and family away from inappropriate sites, phishing sites, scam sites, and other sites that will try to misuse your data. You can use AVG Family Safety as a safer alternative to Internet Explorer on your mobile device.

Speaking about using AVG Family Safety, if you to do so in conjunction with AVG Family Safety for PC, you can get an extra layer of protection – you can set up a list of allowed and blocked websites, monitor online activity, and block social networking.

AVG Family Safety works great with the Kid’s Corner feature offered by Windows Phone 8. I remind you that the feature is meant to provide peace of mind to parents who have a Windows Phone 8-powered device and are worried that their child might misuse it. They don’t have to worry that the child might delete photos, send out unwanted emails, make unapproved purchases, and other things of the sort. The child gets to play in a “Kid’s Corner”, a specialized place on the phone that lets the young one access nothing else but the apps, games, music, and videos the parent selected.
