The extremely popular instant messaging client developed by Yahoo!, Yahoo! Messenger 9, has been recently updated and has thus officially reached version 9.0.0.2112. With this recent update Yahoo! fixed a few bugs and made a few modifications to the software, but this is not to say that everything is peaches and downloading/upgrading the IM client will go without glitches.

Product Manager with Yahoo, Sarah Bacon explains: “We are also aware of the installation problems that some users are experiencing. We are working hard to find a fix and as soon as we have one, we’ll let you know here on the blog. Thanks for your patience.” It seems that just a little while back the Yahoo! team had to solve some Yahoo Messenger/Vista incompatibility issues.

Let’s put the problems aside and focus on what Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.2112 brings to the table:
- Users where experiencing some log-in problems, so these bugs obviously needed addressing.
- The conflict between Yahoo Messenger 9.0 and IOLO antivirus software caused Windows Vista to crash, so this one has been fixed as well.
- In previous Yahoo! Messenger versions you would get a “Contact is typing a message” display on the bottom of the active conversation window. With 9.0.0.2112 this has changed and you are informed that your conversation partner is currently typing a message by means of an “inline with the conversation up above” display.
- It is now easier to report spam.
- The offline messages window has suffered some modifications – messages from friends in your contact list will be displayed differently compared to messages from people that are not in your contacts list.

In related IM client news, you should be aware of the fact that the Skype development team is preparing to release an important Skype 4.0 update soon, while Microsoft has already released the final version of Windows Live Messenger 2009 .
