Update Available for the Final and Official Facebook App for Windows Mobile
Earlier this month the features that would be included in the Facebook app for Windows Mobile 6 powered devices were detailed to would-be users, just a very short time before the final and official app was released to the awaiting public. As it turns out, there have been some issues with the application and consequently Microsoft had to release an update.
Windows Mobile Content Publishing, Joshua Partlow, comments: “Microsoft recently released a Facebook application for Windows Mobile. We’ve heard some users have been having problems with installation and a new copy of the app has been posted. This version should help anyone that was getting the “cannot install due to insufficient privileges” error and it should also help with some hanging errors.”
Before you install the updated version of Facebook for WinMo 6, Joshua Partlow advises you uninstall the old app and delete Facebook.vol and fbmail.vol from the root directory.
If you are just now discovering the Facebook app for WinMo, here are the features you will get from the app:
Profile
The app lets you view your profile, update your status, write on wall, add images and videos, and last but not least, send messages.
News feeds
You can compose, view, reply and delete news items.
Photos and videos
As previously mentioned, you can add photos and videos to your profile. On top of that you can tag people and places (geo tag), auto upload to Facebook, read photo details, post comments. Please note that only the final, official Facebook app for WinMo will feature the option to upload videos from your phone to Facebook.
Wall
Post items to the wall, delete items from the wall.
Friends’ profile
The app will provide the option to invite friends, comments on a friend’s status, view someone’s full profile, send an email, an SMS text or call from within a profile.
Email
View emails, send new emails and reply to incoming emails.
Notifications
View, poke and accept notifications.
Requests
The option to confirm requests and invites.
If you would like to get Facebook for Windows Mobile 6, a download location is available here (Microsoft Download Center) and here (Windows Mobile optimized page).
