I am very picky when it comes to phones. It must have a powerful processor, lots of RAM, plenty of storage, a decent camera, battery that can last all-day, and must not be overly expensive. On top of that, it has to be unlocked. That last bit is quite important, because I refuse to be tied down to a carrier.

There’s no denying that unlocked phones are awesome and anyone who knows what "unlocked" means can testify to that. Unfortunately though, many people don’t know what "unlocked" means.

That’s what Motorola found out by conducting a survey among U.S. smartphone users. To address the situation, Motorola came up with an infographic that tells the truth about unlocked phones.

The 4th generation Moto G is universally unlocked in the US

The Moto G4 and G4 Plus, which will be released in the US on July 12, 2016, are universally unlocked, meaning they work on both GSM and CDMA networks and are not tied to a carrier or plan.

"No matter where life takes you - whether you want to switch carriers or travel internationally - simply insert the SIM card of your choice and activate your plan. Moto G4 lets you keep your options open and focus on what matters," Motorola explained.
