Twitter, by entering a partnership with Aviary, added the option to edit and refine photos in Twitter for Android or Twitter for iOS. You can now enhance photos within Twitter before sharing them with the world.

The fact that you can share photos with Twitter is not something new – it is a feature that millions of people from all over the world use on a daily basis. The fact that Twitter added the option to edit an image before tweeting it, now that is something new – and it’s all thanks to Aviary and the company’s customizable photo editor that has been made a part of Twitter for Android and Twitter for iOS.

Sharing photos has always been an efficient means of expression, a quick way to convey a message. As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, and since June 2011 when the ability to attach a photo to a tweet has been added, Twitter has been working hard on improving the photo experience. The company has continually focused on making it easier and faster to share and discover and enjoy great photos on Twitter.

As part of this effort, Twitter entered a partnership with Aviary, company that offers a robust, customizable photo editor that can be plugged into apps on iOS, Android, Windows Phone and HTML5 in minutes. Twitter took Aviary’s editor and made it a part of Twitter for Android and Twitter for iOS.

You can now use the Twitter app to access the following editing functions:
  • Filters – there are 8 filters to choose from; black & white and vintage are just a couple of examples. In a single grid view you can see how each filter would affect your photo. With a swipe on the screen you can move from one filter to another.
  • Crop – focus attention on a part of the image by cropping the image.
  • Automatic enhancement – with a tap on the wand the image’s light and colors will be adjusted, making the image look better.

Twitter's new editing functions are presented in the video below.
