Cerulean Studios has recently rolled out version 2.0 of its multiprotocol chat client for iOS. The app is now universal, meaning that you can use it on your iPad as well.

Multiprotocol chat client Trillian has reached an important milestone: the Trillian app for iOS is now universal. Cerulean Studios, the developer behind the app, recently announced that with the release of version 2.0, the Trillian app for iOS went universal. This means that you can now use Trillian on all your iOS-powered devices – on your iPhone, on your iPod, and on your iPad as well. Before version 2.0, you could not use Trillian on an iPad.

Speaking about the iPad, it must be mentioned that Trillian 2.0 comes with an interface designed exclusively for the iPad. Here’s what Cerulean Studios has to say about the beautiful new interface:

“Because Trillian’s primary element is a collection of small chat bubbles, simply “making things bigger” felt awkward to us; worse, large windows with small text snippets sometimes required a slight turn of the head while reading. Our solution keeps chat windows sanely sized and uses the rest of the screen for tabs, swiping, and in-app notifications! Across the iPhone and iPad, Trillian’s new launchpad UI lets you keep up with the people most important to you at a single glance.”

That’s not all that Trillian for iOS 2.0 has to offer. Cerulean Studios also worked on improving the app’s security and on giving it a speed boost. In the past, Trillian used TLS when transmitting passwords; with version 2.0 it uses TLS everywhere. Your passwords and your chats as well are now encrypted using TLS, keeping your data protected from snooping. Moving on, thanks to various speedups and optimizations, version 2.0 is the fastest Trillian version so far.

Trillian for iOS is available for free download in Apple’s App Store here.

All the new features that Trillian for iOS version 2.0 has to offer will be included in the next major Trillian for Android release, Cerulean Studios explained.
