What’s Your Story?, the international, user-generated video contest that focuses on empowering youngsters to educate others about online safety, has come to an end. The goal of this contest, as TrendMicro explained, was to help parents, teachers and youth become more aware of Internet safety issues, and help young people stay safe online.

The panel of judges, which included representatives from TrendMicro, Childnet International, Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely, Facebook, the Jennifer Smart Foundation, Identity Theft Resource Center, myYearbook, Net Family News, and Web Wise Kids, have gone over the submissions and a grand winner has been selected.

The winner of the What Your Story? competition and the $10,000 grand prize is, drum rolls please, the Where Are You? video by Mark C. Eshleman and Tyler Joseph, two filmmakers from Westerville, Ohio. The winning video is available for your viewing pleasure here.

TrendMicro said in a press release that the Where Are You? video is “austere in its production, yet delivers a compelling message to youth everywhere.” The two filmmakers, Mark C. Eshleman and Tyler Joseph, based the video on a poem, an empty room, and some duct tape. They came up with a video that viewers called “video poetry” and “pure art”.

"It was 3 a.m. when we first learned about the contest. An hour later, Tyler had the poem written and we discovered some visual meanings from the rhymes," said Eshleman. "Our inspiration was to create something that would have a positive influence on young people. Art impacts its viewers differently, which makes it even more meaningful."

The Where Are You? video is the grand prize winner – but not the only winner in the What’s Your Story? competition. There were several categories, like Being A Good Online Citizen or Using a Mobile Phone Wisely, and a winner for each category has been selected. The complete list of winners is available here.
