Good luck, I hope you win!

Released to the public back in March, Trend Micro Online Guardian for Families is a tool that provides protection against cyberbullying, online predators, and other internet dangers your children may be exposed to. With the parental control features included in this tool you can monitor your children’s internet activity closely (see what they are doing on sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube, what sites they visited, what online chats they had), you can restrict internet usage (limit internet time and set a daily schedule, block adult sites), and you can prevent your children from sharing sensitive information (credit card numbers, passwords, email addresses, and other things of the sort).

If you think you don’t need to keep an eye on our children and monitor their internet usage, here are some figures released by Trend Micro that show otherwise:
  • 68% of teens accepted friend requests from people they don’t know.
  • 31% of teens shared content on social networking sites, content they would not want their teachers or family to see.
  • 68% of teen girls said they had a negative experience with social networks.

"Keeping our kids safe online is critical. As busy parents who may or may not have the technical know-how, it's hard to keep up with our kids online," said Carol Carpenter, executive general manager for the consumer and small business units at Trend Micro and also a mother of two digitally-savvy kids. "Our vision with Trend Micro Online Guardian is to provide the tools and information for parents to become aware of their kids' online activities, to generate healthy family dialogue, and to prevent problems before they happen."
