Thanks to a report made public by Distimo, company that describes itself as “an innovative app store analytics company built to solve the challenges created by a widely fragmented app store marketplace filled with equally fragmented information and statistics,” we now know the answer to the following two questions:

1. How much do Windows Phone 7 Marketplace apps cost on average? The answer is $1.95; the about 3.000 apps hosted by Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Marketplace, on average, cost $1.94.
2. How much do apps hosted by Apple’s App Store cost on average? The answer is $4; the 300.000+ apps hosted by Apple’s App Store, on average, cost $4.

The report allows us to provide an answer to another question – which are the most popular paid apps in Apple’s App store, Google’s Android Market, BlackBerry’s App World, Nokia’s Ovi Store, Palm’s App Catalog, and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Marketplace. Or at least which apps were the most popular during the month of October, 2010.

Here are the most popular paid apps hosted by the biggest app stores out there.
