'Tis the Season for Christmassy Firefox Personas

I have to tell you that my significant other simply loves this time of the year. So much so that she didn’t even wait until Christmas Eve to put up the Christmas tree – she did so on the first of the month. We’re now some ten days away from Christmas and my home is already a winter wonderland.

She took care of putting up the traditional Christmas decorations, while I took care of decorating our computers. I got me the Christmas Yard screensaver , and I tried out some cool Personas for my Firefox browser. Since it's December and the winter holidays are upon us, the Holiday Personas Gallery at getpersonas.com is full of great looking Christmassy or just wintery themes.

Go ahead, try some out. Go to getpersonas.com -> click Gallery then click Holiday; or just click this link. If you’re on Firefox 3.6.X, Personas are natively supported, which means you can see how one would look like by simply placing the mouse cursor over a Persona.

When you find a Persona that suits your tastes, click the 'Wear it' button and in no time at all your browser will be sporting that Persona. If you click the “Wear it” button and seconds later you realize your don’t like that Persona, there is an easy way out. The moment you get a Persona, Firefox displays the “A new theme has been installed” prompt (similar to the ones you get when the browser blocks a popup). From the popup you can click 'Undo' and your previous Persona will be restored, or you can click 'Manage themes' and the Add-ons window will pop up, allowing you to uninstall themes, personas, plugins, and extensions.

Firefox users who are on version 3.0 need to get the Personas add-on to enjoy this sort of functionality. The add-on is available on AMO (addons.mozilla.org) here.

Here are some of the Personas you could use to decorate your Firefox browser.

In related news, the latest Firefox updates are v. 3.6.13 and Firefox 3.0.15. These are stability and security updates that come accompanied by multiple critical security bulletins.
