Trend Micro, company that specializes in providing network antivirus and internet content security software, has recently announced that it released a free application for the iPhone. Called Threat Watch, the app is meant to deliver the latest security news and security alerts to the iPhone user. The app doesn’t work on the iPhone alone. It also works on the iPod Touch and iPad.

For no charge whatsoever, you can turn your mobile device – be it the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad – into a personal threat resource center. The app plugs directly into TrendWatch and delivers news on the latest security threats – this includes security advisories, info on security awareness, online safety tips, threat prevention tips, free tools, and access to the Trend Micro malware blog.

Here are the app’s features, as detailed by TrendMicro:
  • - Direct access to Trend Micro blogs, including the Trend Micro Malware Blog with information on the latest threats.
  • - Direct access to TrendWatch, the Trend Micro threat-resource center that keeps users informed on the current threat activity and provides free security tools.
  • - Breaking threat news delivered right to the user's device; a small, on-screen banner alerts the user when there is a new threat or vulnerability.
  • - Direct access to educational videos on Internet threats and the threat landscape

The Threat Watch app is available for download straight from the App Store here. Again, the app is provided free of charge and works with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
