Last week we were announcing that Opera Software, the Norwegian software developer behind the Opera web browser, is giving everyone the chance to win a copy of the recently released Dead Island game. Today, I am glad to announce that the winners of Opera’s Dead Island Challenge are:
  • Furie, who had had figured out a plan to cope with a zombie apocalypse way before Opera thought of running the Dead Island challenge. For putting said plan together in five sites, Opera Software awarded Furie a copy of Dead Island.
  • Pneumatig’s plan for a zombie apocalypse included learning to hotwire a car, knowing how to get to a drug store, how to get more drugs when they’re needed, learning wilderness signaling techniques, and finding out how to charm and rescue babes in distress. For the brilliant approach to zombie survival, Opera Software awarded Pneumatig with a copy of Dead Island.
  • Louie won a copy of Dead Island by keeping his zombie survival plan short and funny. That impressed Opera Software and consequently he won a copy of Dead Island.
If you’re not familiar with Opera’s Dead Island Challenge, let me remind you.

Last week Opera Software proposed this scenario: imagine you’re on vacation, enjoying some time off on a beautiful tropical island in the middle of nowhere. Thanks to Opera Mini you can surf the web and post updates and photos about your vacation, even though the internet connection is pretty lousy. You vacation is spoiled by a zombie outbreak – but not to worry, you’re prepared for this. The problem is that now that zombies are roaming everywhere, eventually the power will go out and you will lose your internet connection.

With that scenario in mind, here’s the Opera Dead Island Challenge: think of five websites you would save with Opera Mini, should the internet go down on the zombie infested island.

And if you’re not familiar with the Dead Island game, here’s a quick presentation. Dead Island is a first person horror action-adventure video game for Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360. The aim in the game is to survive on a zombie-infested island. You have to use all sorts of weapons and vehicles to battle the zombies and stay alive. Up to four players can cooperatively play the game. Visit the game’s official site to learn more about it.
