You no longer have to pay to enjoy The Transit App, the iPhone app that helps you get where you need to go. After hitting version 2.0, the app dropped the price tag and is now completely free.

If you’re familiar with The Transit App, then I must tell you that this week the app was updated to version 2.0. The Transit App version 2.0 got a few new features and it dropped the price tag. Yes, Transit is now a completely free app.

As I mentioned above, 2.0 comes with a few new features: real-time vehicle locations (where available), you can disable particular transit modes with a transit agency, autocomplete suggestions include recent locations, Nearby Mode has a new sorting sorter that takes into account departure time, mode, distance and favorites, improved schedule popover, offset your location from any stop on an itinerary path, and lots of bug fixes and performance improvements.

The Transit App comes in handy when you’re doing your daily commute or when you want to get from point A to point B using public transportation. With support for New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Boston Toronto, Montreal, and many other cities across the US, The Transit App is ideally suited to guide you and help you reach your destination.

It delivers the departure times for all public routes near you, so just take your iPhone out of your pocket and the app will present the next departure. That’s great for commuters – here’s one that’s great for tourists. The app’s trip planer will map out the quickest route to your destination, so just tell it where you need to go and the app will take care of the rest.

For additional information on what The Transit App has to offer, visit the app’s official website here.

If you want to get The Transit App, which is now free, you can grab it from Apple App Store here.
