Fresh Paint, the fun and easy to use painting app offered for free by Microsoft, will be updated this week.

The new Fresh Paint for Windows Phone will be launched to the public on Monday, October 14.
And the new Fresh Paint for Windows 8.1 will be launched on Friday, October 18. It will launch in tandem with the Windows 8.1 update.

The new Fresh Paint for Windows Phone will come with the option to draw with pencil, new photo filters, an updated interface, and the option to save to SkyDrive.
The app will be rolled out to the Windows Phone Store.

Back in July, Microsoft shared a preview version of Fresh Paint for Windows 8.1. The preview introduced several new features: a new and modern interface, new graphite pencil set, and watercolor. These features will be made available in the new Fresh Pain that will be rolled out in tandem with Windows 8.1 on the 18th of October. The new Fresh Paint will have a few other new features to offer: create high quality canvas prints, new means of working with photos, stylus pressure improvements, more realistic rendering for watercolor.

As mentioned above, the new Fresh Paint will come with the ability to create high quality canvas prints. To achieve this, Microsoft partnered with CanvasPop, company that uses the best materials and craftsmanship to offer high quality canvas prints.

“Fresh Paint is the first painting app to integrate CanvasPop’s new printing API. We believe in pushing the boundaries of what is possible with art in the digital age. We’re bringing that to life by helping you turn your digital paintings and drawings into amazing physical pieces that you can hang in your living room or give as gifts. This new functionality is a direct result of user feedback,” explained Ira Snyder, General Manager in the Startup Business Group.

Sometimes, the first step is the hardest to take. To help you get on your way, the new Fresh Paint comes with a new Inspire Me feature – it presents inspirational images that you can import. Once you imported the image, use it as the basis for a cool new creation.

The new Fresh Paint for Windows 8.1 will be rolled out to the Windows Store.
