The First Official Fallout 4 Patch Is Out. Here's What It Fixes.

It’s been close to a month since Bethesda rolled out Fallout 4, the incredibly awesome open world action RPG that I just can’t stop playing. I play Fallout on my PC at home (because my work PC can’t handle it), I play Fallout Shelter on my mobile whenever I get the chance, I’m addicted to this game. But I digress, and I really shouldn’t because I have some big news to tell you.

The first, official and non-beta Fallout 4 patch, update 1.2, has been released. The PC patch is already out there and the PS4 and Xbox One patch will be released later this week. It introduces a couple of new features, it fixes quite a few problems, and it makes your life a bit harder if you’re not running the vanilla version of the game. See below.

Fallout 4 – Patch 1.2 Notes

New Features
  • Number pad keys can now be used for remapping (PC)
  • Remapping Activate now works on Quick Container (PC)

Fixes
  • General memory and stability improvements
  • Performance improvements inside the Corvega Assembly Plant
  • Optimizations to skinned decal rendering
  • Fixed issue with player becoming stuck in terminals
  • Fixed issue where equipped weapons become locked after completing Reunions
  • Fixed issue with "When Freedom Calls" where the quest would not complete
  • During "Confidence Man" fixed issue where player's health would continuously regenerate
  • Fixed crash related to jumping into water and reloading saved games
  • Fixed issue where Launcher would not save God Rays Quality setting properly (PC)

New launcher

If you’re playing the vanilla version, you don’t need to read this part. If you’ve applied various mods to Fallout 4, I’m afraid I have some bad news: the patch adds a new launcher that disables mods on startup. What’s worse is that the .INI edit that previously got around this limitation no longer works. PC Gamer has the solution for this nuisance: “launch the Nexus Mod Manager, then launch Fallout 4, then switch back to the NMM and re-enable mods, then go back to Fallout 4 and do your thing.”

Note

Bethesda previously released this patch as a Beta on December 2, 2015.

Update, February 2, 2016

Patch 1.3 has just been released. It comes with a ton of fixes and several new features, including two new graphics options that make Fallout 4 look a lot better.
