The Few (as in 5) Things We Know about Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games, the company that’s best known for the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series, has officially confirmed that they’re working on Red Dead Redemption 2, a sequel to the western-themed, open world, action-adventure video game that was released in 2010.

It’s still very early, and with Rockstar being tight-lipped for now, there’s not a lot that we know about the game. But we do know these 5 things.

1. It remains a console exclusive

If you were hoping that you’d be able to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on your PC, I’m sorry to shatter your dreams. Just like its predecessor, the game will be available for consoles only: PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.

I hope that Red Dead Redemption 2 will eventually make its way to PC. Perhaps Rockstar will release it for consoles first, and sometime later, it will release it for PCs as well. You know, like it did with GTA V.

2. It’ll be an online multiplayer game

Here’s what Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, had to comment:

"With Red Dead Redemption 2, the team is working hard to push forward our vision for interactive entertainment in a truly living world. We hope to deliver players an epic experience that builds upon everything we've learned making games."

And here’s what Rockstar Games says on the webpage it set up for the game:

"Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience."

This will most likely mirror GTA Online, the multiplayer component of GTA V.

3. It’ll get a trailer tomorrow

We’ll get our first look at Red Dead Redemption on Thursday, October 20, at 11AM Eastern. That’s when Rockstar Games is going to release a trailer for the game. I’ll update this article and add the trailer then.

UPDATE: the trailer is out. Check it out down at the bottom.

4. It’ll be released next year

Assuming that everything goes okay and there are no major delays, Rockstar Games plans to release Red Dead Redemption 2 worldwide in Fall 2017. As mentioned above, the game will be made available for PS4 and Xbox One systems.

5. It’s already available for pre-order

Visit the Rockstar Warehouse and you’ll see that the Red Dead Redemption 2 game is already available for pre-order. In the US, the game is priced at $59.99. In Europe, it is priced at €69.99.

I wouldn’t rush to pre-order the game if I were you. We know next to nothing about it. It could be great, but then again it might be a hit-and-miss. At least wait until the trailer is rolled out.
