System Center Operation Manager 2007 R2 is Now RTM

Redmond-based software developer Microsoft has recently announced it reached the RTM (Release to Manufacturing) milestone in the development of System Center Operation Manager 2007 R2, its end-to-end service management solution that provides support for improving availability and performance across IT services in a datacenter. The next milestone in the development of System Center Operation Manager 2007 R2 is GA (General Availability), which should occur on the 1st of July.

Manageability Knowledge Center, J.C. Hornbeck, comments: “Just in case you got an early start on the long Memorial Day weekend (here in the States) and missed the announcement, System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 was approved and released to manufacturing last Friday. General availability of the product should be around July 1st.”

New functionality in System Center Operation Manager 2007 R2:
- Cross platform monitoring: monitor Windows, Linux and UNIX server through a single console.
- Service level tracking: a detailed report for all monitored IT services is presented; it contains data on performance and availability metrics of IT service levels.
- New monitoring templates.
