Starbucks, the international coffee and coffeehouse chain, has partnered with eco-minded Yahoo! and has launched the Starbucks Digital Network. Why do I say “eco-minded” when I refer to Yahoo!? Here’s the answer: Yahoo! took the number 9 position in Newsweek’s exclusive environmental ranking of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in America. Yahoo! got a green score of 92.67, thus making it to the 9th position. This is a considerable jump from last year, when Yahoo! took the 69th position in Newsweek’s ranking.

“Our ongoing energy efficiency and environmental efforts are a priority at Yahoo!. We will continue to identify ways we can lead our industry in energy efficiency, reduce our environmental impact, and encourage both our employees and hundreds of millions of customers around the world to be greener every day,” commented Director of Climate and Energy Strategy with Yahoo!, Christina Page.

Getting back to Starbucks, the Starbucks Digital Network launched in US stores this week. While you enjoy your premium coffee at your neighborhood Starbucks, you can enjoy premium content on the Starbucks Digital Network. You have seamless access to news, entertainment, lifestyle content, free downloads, local insights and events. The hand-picked content on the Starbucks Digital Network is offered by multiple providers, including iTunes, Nick Jr. Boost, Rodale, WSJ.com and Yahoo!.

“We hope you stop by your neighborhood Starbucks and experience the Starbucks Digital Network, in partnership with Yahoo!, for yourself. Whether your drink of choice is a hot latte or a cold Frappuccino, treat yourself to the new Starbucks Digital Network, in partnership with Yahoo!,” said Vice President Starbucks Digital Ventures, Adam Brotman.

If you visit a Starbucks between October 20th and October 27th, you will have access to special content, including exclusive free tracks from Fistful of Mercy featuring Ben Harper and Dhani Harrisons, a first look at the new novel signed by Anita Shreve (novel that will hit the stores on November 30th), and the chance to donate $15 to a local school through DonorsChoose.org.
