Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Appears on Torrent Trackers

In the internet age is pretty hard to prevent the free flow of information, or the distribution of software products, music, movies, and so on. After Microsoft’s Windows 7 Beta was leaked to torrent trackers a while back, it is now time for the same thing to happen to the Snow Leopard, the upcoming Apple developed OS that is meant to replace Mac OS X 10.5.6, codename Leopard.

At this point in time two Snow Leopard builds are already available for download on the most popular torrent sites out there – which would be The Pirate Bay and Mininova, according to a recent survey. If you are really eager to put the Mac OS X 10.6 to the test, feel free to do so, but keep one thing in mind. The software applications you are planning to download are early Alpha builds of the OS, and may prove to be extremely troublesome. As is the case with any Alpha build, thy tend to be plagued by bugs, so unless you are willing to cope with that, then I suggest waiting for a later build.

In related torrent news, it must be said that Mininova is now 4 years old, so I guess Happy Birthday wishes are in order. Mininova first appeared on the torrent tracker radar on the 15th of January 2005, after the unfortunate demise of Suprnova. The five Dutch guys that launched the torrent site back then, Erik, Jos, Matthijs, Niek and Rob, never would have guessed that just 4 years latter the site would amass such a large following.

Mininova CEO, Niek comments: “The growth rate is above every expectation. Mininova’s download numbers almost doubled this year - and the number of visitors grew almost just as hard. We are excited about the coming year and its challenges: stay tuned for some important announcements in the coming months.”
