Microsoft-owned Skype announced on Monday, February 27th, that it rolled out a Beta version of Skype to all the Windows Phone users out there. Or to put it in other words, if you’re on Windows Phone, you can get Skype Beta for Windows Phone and enjoy the voice and video calling capabilities the app has to offer. You can get the app from the Marketplace or, if you’re reading this on a Windows Phone, by clicking this link or by scanning the QR code below.
If you’re going to get the application, you need to know what the app has to offer. To keep things nice and short, here’s a list of its main functions:
“Skype for Windows Phone Beta supports the most important Skype features you've come to know and love. And you will be especially thrilled by the clean and simple Skype experience that the Metro user interface delivers on your Windows Phone. It has never before been so easy to connect with the people you care about most,” commented VP of Product at Skype, Rick Osterloh.
Skype tested Skype Beta for Windows Phone on and certified the following devices for best performance: Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia Lumia 800, HTC Titan, HTC Radar, Samsung Focus S, and Samsung Focus Flash.
As is the case with all Beta releases, the regular warnings apply: the features mentioned above may not work properly, you may have problems with the app, it could drive you up the walls. Get the app only if you understand the risks involved in Beta testing a product.
