As you may remember, Skype 5.0 for Windows graduated out of Beta on the 14th of October, bringing with it Facebook integration, group calling, and a refreshed user interface. At the time Skype said it would roll out an update for Skype for Mac as well. That update is Skype 5.0 Beta for Mac.
“It was worth the wait – the new Skype 5.0 is now available for Mac today in beta, introducing a revamped look and feel that simplifies navigation and provides a more Mac-like experience,” announced Project Manager for Skype for Mac, Krishna Panicker.

- Offline IM – you can send messages to offline recipients, and you can receive instant messages even if you are offline.
- Personalize contacts – you can personalize your contacts via user profiles.
- Dropped calls – you can quickly rejoin calls if your internet connection goes down for a moment.
- Floating Contacts Monitor – display online contacts and contact groups.
