Sesame Street YouTube Account Hacked, Content Replaced with...
This Sunday, the 16th of October, people with malicious intent managed to hack into the YouTube account of Sesame Street, the popular children’s TV series. The YouTube account which regularly features child-friendly movies of Sesame Street puppets featured a different kind of content after the hacking accident. You see, the hackers replaced the child-friendly movies with...adult content – the hardcore kind.
Instead of Miss Piggy, the videos featured some real-life porking, if I may be allowed to make a rather crude joke about it.

The hackers also changed the channel’s description; they went with the following text: “WHO DOESN'T LOVE P*RN KIDS? RIGHT! EVERYONE LOVES IT! I'M MREDXWX AND MY PARTNER MRSUICIDER91 ARE HERE TO BRING YOU MANY NICE CONTENT! PLEASE DON'T LET SESAME STEET TO GET THIS ACCOUNT BACK KIDS.”
The abovementioned Mredxwx is a YouTube user and game who usually uploads gameplay footage. It seems that Mredxwx is not behind the hacking of Sesame Street’s YouTube channel. He posted a video on his channel in which he says that he had nothing to do with the hacking. It would seem the hackers are trying to throw the blame on Mredxwx for reasons that remain unknown.
And speaking of which, it is yet unclear how the hackers managed to break into Sesame Street’s YouTube channel. According to Graham Cluley, Senior Technology Consultant with Sophos, company that specializes in providing antivirus, anti-spam, spyware removal software, network and internet security, poor password security is most likely the culprit. Cluley says “it's natural to assume that they were sloppy with their password security.”
It took YouTube some 20 minutes to realize that there’s something wrong with Sesame Street’s channel. YouTube reacted by tacking the channel down; they cited “repeated and severe violations of our Community Guidelines” for shutting down the channel. At the time of writing this the channel continues to be offline, much to the dismay of Sesame Street fans.
